Our story, our Commitment
A simple idea, grown into a movement: everyone deserves the chance to build a better life.
A simple idea, grown into a movement
One Life Cameroon began with a conviction: that everyone deserves the chance to build a better life, regardless of where they start. Today, that conviction has grown into a movement dedicated to underprivileged and vulnerable children, young people, and elders across Cameroon.
We are results-driven. Every intervention we design from sustainable economic development to food security to clean water access is built to deliver real, measurable change for those who need it most.
Through our structured programs, volunteers and partners can witness our impact firsthand, connect with a committed community, and contribute to work that truly matters. Sustainability sits at the heart of our model, we don’t just provide aid, we equip families, farmers and rural communities with the tools, training, and confidence to lift themselves out of poverty for good.
Three principles, written in soil.
Lead from the land
The communities tending the land through generations of care, ceremony, and sometimes resistance are the ones holding the soil together. Our job is to follow their lead. Not to set agendas, not to “build capacity,” not to graduate them off our funding. To listen, to fund, and to step out of the way.
Center Indigenous science
Indigenous land managers have stewarded watersheds for thousands of years. Their knowledge is not a “complement” to Western ecology, it is its own complete and rigorous tradition. We hire from it, fund it, teach it, and try, slowly, to learn from it.
Sustainable, Not Symbolic
We don’t hand out solutions; we plant them. As our founder George Awa put it: “true change comes from equipping communities with the tools to help themselves.” Every seed, every training session, every tool we provide is chosen to outlast the season it was given in.
Five years, in Five moments.
Building a Lifeline
Our most ambitious undertaking yet: a Community Center for Survival and Resilience in Buchi, Pinyin a space for shelter, agricultural training, children’s education, and healthcare access, all under one roof. Alongside it, we’re completing clean water access across four villages and deepening our partnerships with fellow nonprofits to multiply our impact.
Breaking Ground on What’s Next
With Phase One of the Bamunka Primary School water project complete, we turned our attention to the villages still waiting, Bamunka, Bambalang, Mballa and Jakiri where families face some of the most severe water shortages we’ve encountered. This is the year the next chapter started taking shape.
A New Region, A New Chapter
We expanded into Nkambe, Fa’am and Nking (Northwest Region), disbursing 3,825,000 FCFA in financial aid to 150 rural farmers and distributing seeds that drove a 25% increase in crop yields for 200 families. Seven sensitization workshops reached 300 farmers and for the first time, we brought confidential counseling and gender-based violence prevention campaigns to over 800 community members.
Reaching the Far North
In Dogba, Meri and Balaza (Diamaré Division), we delivered over 75,000 liters of clean water and 1,500 first-aid kits to drought-affected families. 500 volunteers gave more than 8,000 hours in the field, while 550 bags of drought-resistant seeds reached 850 farming families alongside 45 workshops and 300 confidential counseling sessions for communities facing real hardship.
Where It All Began
One Life Cameroon took its first steps not with large numbers, but with a simple conviction: that every child, every farmer, every family deserves the chance to build a better life. The groundwork laid this year would become the foundation for everything that followed.
